Qinghua Sea is located in Longyang District, Baoshan City, western Yunnan Province. It is located in the Baoshan Basin between Nujiang River and Lancang River in Hengduan Mountains. Qinghua Sea is a Nujiang River system, located in the southern margin of the Nujiang Valley Biodiversity Conservation Eco-functional Zone in Gaoligong Mountains. It is a key area of global biodiversity and an important node of the East Asia-Australia West Asia International Migratory Bird Migration Route.
The health of the wetland ecosystem in the Qinghua Sea is of great strategic significance for maintaining the ecological security of Western Yunnan and ensuring the sustainable development of regional economy and society. In the Paleolithic Age, more than 10,000 years ago, the Qinghua Sea is a closed Ailao ancient lake.
